Mary Kills People is a thrilling, thought-provoking and darkly funny drama from newcomer Tara Armstrong, award-winning showrunner Tassie Cameron (Rookie Blue, Flashpoint) and award-winning director Holly Dale (The Americans, Dexter, Castle). The series stars Caroline Dhavernas (Hannibal) as Dr. Mary Harris, a single mother and emergency doctor by day, who moonlights as an underground Angel of Death – helping terminally ill patients who want to die on their own terms.
Set in the morally grey and adrenaline-packed world of assisted suicide, Mary and her trusted partner in crime Des (Richard Short, Vinyl) have managed to stay under the radar and carry out their mission to help patients die; but death is hot, business is booming, and her double life is getting complicated. When the police start to close in, Mary realises she’s going to have to fight dirty if she’s going to stay in the killing game.
Meanwhile, Mary struggles to balance her career and her personal life, as a mutual attraction begins with one of her terminally ill patients, Joel (Jay Ryan, Top Of The Lake), blurring the lines of their less-than-conventional doctor-patient relationship. Her curious teenage daughter starts asking questions and quickly learns that the people closest to her may not be who they seem.
The fresh and innovative series, surrounding the hotly debated and controversial subject of assisted suicide, blends sympathetic narratives, dark humour and thrilling drama. Mary Kills People is sure to keep audiences at the edge of their seat as they watch Dr. Mary Harris carry out her bold and dangerous missions with the police hot on her trail.
